The only way to deal with mobile source pollution is to reduce oil burning.

The best way to lower petroleum use is to allow consumers the choice to buy cars that don't need oil, such as the Toyota RAV4-EV, last sold in Nov., 2002.

In 2003, the Auto Alliance manufacturers promised to build fuel cell cars if they were allowed to crush their existing fleet of battery EVs. Now, five years later, the Auto Alliance is trying to get out of their promises.

ARB voted to virtually eliminate oil-free cars by cutting them 70%.

The Air Resources Board staff catered to lobbyists, and failed in its duty to confront auto makers and defend our air quality.

The ARB exhibited an undue preference for Hydrogen, which has not been proven practical in cars.

The Toyota RAV4-EV demonstrates that the batteries are here, now, less expensive than fuel cells, and last a long time.

The Auto Alliance must be forced to make Electric cars available on the free market, at a reasonable price, to suit customer demand.

Board member Sperling has an appearance of conflict of interest with Hydrogen-based grants, and should not be allowed to vote to kill the Electric car.

The ARB has failed to even consider that widespread use of oil-free cars lowers refinery and other pollution in addition to mobile-source pollution.

I pledge to buy no new car until an oil-free, plug-in car is available for purchase on the open market.

Sincerely,
